finally the third release for red rooster records. like the second one, we are talking about a various artists e.p.: minimono (fabio della torre and ennio colacci) is an italian duo born in florence in 1997. in 2008 fabio and ennio founded their own label -bosconi records- where they released their first album in 2010. now minimono works with robsoul records, vibraphone and other very good label from all over the world. dj rou is parts of the project called homequest, a real crew of artists made in bologna, we can also find his music on robsoul jazz, bosconi extra virgin or flexi cuts. memoryman aka uovo is one of the famous pastaboys, he has a long story that starts with the label manocalda, he worked with a lot of big artists from the main house scene and he did a lot of records with the bests labels. d�arabia, class 1991, is the owner of red rooster records and this is the third release for him, surely not the last.

jun kamoda has been a solid contributor to japan�s electronic music scene for quite some time. producing under his illreme moniker for over 15 years & also as member of hip hop trio baleine 3000. he is also a cartoon illustrator for japanese independent magazine �usca�.
2016 saw him release �the clay ep� (with *that* physical graffiti tune) on new york�s seminal imprint mister saturday night as well as a track for a dirt crew recordings compilation. having recently remixed clap! clap!�s �hope�, jun kamoda�s debut for black acre is set for release in june.

last days debut, sea told the story of one man s journey. now with his 5th album, seafaring , graham richardson returns to the sea to examine a range of vocations and exploits adrift. drawing inspiration from shipping routes, to ernest shackleton and his crew s ill-fated voyage on the endurance, to families being disjointed and reunited, seafaring goes some way to hint at what the oceans present to us. seafaring reflects on it s subject matter by coherently linking moments that are minimal and still, to those that are compelling and cinematic.

we hit you with the second single from jimpsters acclaimedsilent stars lp loaded with the good stuff! the album has received much love from djs and critics alike and its clear that after 25 years in the business jamie odell retains his reputation as one of the most talented and consistent electronic artists in the uk. as a&r and dj he also boasts a fine ear for emerging talent and here he hands over the reigns to two hotly tipped producers to rework his originals. first up we have the incredible peggy gou who takes on the sun comes up ft. jinadu.her speedy rise through the ranks over the past 12 months has been down to just a handful of brilliant eps on rekids and phonica and her skills as a club dj. the berlin based korean sits somewhere between detroit, london and berlin in sound and her dj sets are an assured, kinetic combination of dark, pulsing house and techno, broken beats and abstract compositions. her influences shine through on her remix which goes deep and musical whilst retaining an energetic drive for the dancefloor. perhaps the most mesmerizing, floor-focused track from the lp is up next, silent stars. an electronic tribal dance which builds to a speaker-wobbling sub-bass breakdown and wonderful chord section at the climax. next, a remix from west coast native urulu who came to jimpsters attention through his releases on lets play house, dirt crew and his own amadeus label. trying to describe his remix of where you areft. khalil anthony is no easy task, fusing elements of techno, broken beat and afro house, but check it out and if you can think of a suitable new sub genre to pigeonhole it with, let us know. closing the release we have the slow-burning, balearic-tinged beauty known as the sun comes up featuring jinadu on vocals. this is one to drop in the warm after-glow of a crazy night under the stars when tired legs and happy hearts crave a soulful groove to give them one last lift.

supérieur goes for round two after its relaunch in autumn last year. some of you might be surprised that we re breaking up with the single release concept of having one original and one remix, but we believe the time has come to do so. supérieur will be more independent in the future, with an own artist roaster and also with a different sound than the one deliver with connaisseur. this release is by the highly respected south german producer and dj hans thalau, partisan of the techno soul approach, which was celebrated for years by russ gabriel and his ferox recordings crew. it comes as no suprise that hans and russ are friends. hans -soul adventure ep- is a timeless affair. three tracks full of emotional deepness and classiness, and probably thal communications mastermind best works so far. we re rather proud to be able to release these tunes, as they do strike our chord exactly.

after a long hiatus the fasaan recordings crew finally emerges from their basement to break out a second volume of their chalice imprint. functioning as a looser side vehicle to fasaan, chalice is a home for rawer and more uncompromising side projects of the fasaan crew and their extended family. honing in on a murky zone of cheap-sounding machine rhythms and punchy boogie-influenced proto-house sounds, the chalice style is in your face and then out the door just like that: take it or leave it.

with the artist and asquith having briefly touched base at the beginning of the label�s journey, it took only a chance encounter in a ballarat bungalow in 2016 to reignite the flames of the artist-label relationship. jimmy surprisingly bumping into jon (mood j), as he was daze�s housemate in aus, whilst the lobster crew were on tour there.
mood j�s hard drive was stashed with archive of warm, sizzling, analogue studio tracks cooked to the nines, and so here we are just over 14 months later with the full epic debut in hand.

soul jazz records� new boombox 2 is a new selection of early rap music from the period 1979-83, with barely a household name in sight. featured here are some the earliest hip-hop records that came out of new york city following the enormous commercial success of the first ever rap record, �rapper�s delight� by the sugarhill gang, in september 1979. artists and producers alike tried to jump aboard the new commercial possibilities of hip-hop. by the end of the year there were 30 hip-hop singles, all released by independent new york labels. the following year there were over 100 more, and so on.

his time the tramp crew serve you with a delicious double sider by wayne mcghie. -the love you save- was never released when recorded in 1972 and this long-lost track is now available here for the first time on 45! in 1972, wayne signed with record producer greg hambleton and, with former members of the hitchhikers, recorded a couple of tracks including -love is the answer- and -the love you save- at toronto sound studios. -love is the answer- was released later that year as a 45rpm single with the instrumental version on the flip, however -the love you save- was never relaesed. now, more than four decades later, the music of wayne mcghie has been re-discovered and his songs and musicianship are finally receiving the attention so long deserved.

o celebrate the 25th anniversary of ugkãs first album, get on down goes the extra mile, presenting it for the first time ever on vinyl. and 2-lp clear vinyl at that, giving the strutting, funky grooves the chance to really stretch out on your system. back in 1992, southern hip-hop was still proving to the world that it could sustain a fan base that was chiefly raised on rap from new york and la. the geto boys and 2 live crew had made strong cases by the earliest 90s, and pimp c and bun b were ready to make their own. most of the trunk-bumping bass comes from drum programs and basic sampling on these tunes in later years they would build their sound into something even fuller and deeper. self-produced with additional work from houston locals bernie bismark and shetoro henderson, the tracks here are minimal, slow and menacing, which matched their lyrical approach quite nicely. you can hear the beginnings of the groups true greatness in these early lyrical workouts ¹ several taken from the regional cassette-only ep the southern way that got them signed to jive with tales of street hustles, relationships and self-reliance in a world stacked against them. they may have been done early-on, but that doesnt mean they arent crucial to ugks legacy cases in point being the three singles: something good, a charismatic update to bill withers use me up, and pocket full of stones (the latter featured on the menace ii society soundtrack). beyond the singles, deeper cuts like iãm so bad, feels like iãm the one whos doin dope and cramping my style made it clear to the world that this crew had the attitude and charisma to make even bigger waves in the years to come.

doing things properly and building up a diy phenomenon from their base in zurich, the les points crew have brought a fresh, daring originality to the house and techno scene with their gritty outboard approach and a wide range of stylistic tendencies. taking a break from releasing on their own label, audino, barbir, louh and nicola kazimir have been invited to the evergreen trelik to broach their music to a wider audience. from the blissful space techno groove of -anubis- to the tightly wound beats of -housepacer- and on to the cranky acid funk of -ripstyle-, this is yet another distinctive transmission from the plucky swiss crew.

various is a good word to describe this escales vol.2 from croisière musique crew, the second various e.p. from the label, which seems so diverse that it almost could seem inconsistent to someone not familiar with the label. at the same time this e.p. summarizes perfectly a collection of different styles and aspects of croisière musique, from some heavy dancefloor-friendly house and techno to more abstract acid grooves, going through breaky minimalism. a1 � the e.p. starts with battle of wits from sebastian eduardo which is a direct uncompromising floor-oriented piece of house, setting a filtered atmosphere, bouncy bassline and a filtered synth which reminds us of a dubby atmosphere. a thick and compact atmospheric part progressively takes on the middle of the track and suddenly fades to let the main dancing pattern return. a2 � lowlifequalitys is a spatious acid piece which contains elements that are close to the aesthetic of video games. all synths coming together give a sense of confusion yet ordered by the repetitiveness of the loop. the sensation of something nerd and muddle rise from this experience, a expression of weirdness by the member of les points.b1 � programming behavior sets a step back in the ep, evolving around an hypnothic vocal piece which is extracted from an old interview of george clinton, heavily chopped and processed. on top of the simple breaky drum pattern which recenters the experience, gets added an arpeggio and a modular synth sounding sequence which progressively dramatizes the track. rx delivers here a mysterious piece of minimalism, bitter yet swingy. b2 � the e.p. ends with catan, the first appearance from françois, who co-founded croisière musique with rx. starting with an ambiant and breaky atmosphere, catan quickly evolves to a drivy four step techno piece. on top of the leading synth comes different glitchy elements, aerial pads and a disturbing shamanistic glitch in the middle of the track that announces a break which confuses the listener. the track follows-up on this contradiction between the hypnotic grooves and the solid drivy techno.

future times is very juiced to announce a two-track 12inch from one of dc s freshest, sami, of the wonderful 1432 r crew! planing cruises with morphing late night drums and blasted flutes through a gang of fx and synth wash, and sickos is another all-nighter, a crispy bubbler that keeps swingin and slammin, for body and mind. deejays take heed, this is 1 u need

* nan kolé, producer, dj and head of influential label on-the-rise, gqom oh!, returns to black acre for his debut proper with �bayefal�, after first collaborating with nervous horizon�s wallwork on his �facts / fyah� 12� at the back end of 2016. * originally from rome, although now a resident of london, nan kolé has been a major player in the expansion of durban�s gqom sound after discovering it in early 2015. through his label, gqom oh!, he honed in on a network of south african producers operating out of durban, unlocking the keys to a world of music largely untapped by audiences outside of southern and western africa. * �bayefal�, he explains, was made while still living in rome and was inspired by a group he formed called pepesoup, which consisted of an italo-liberian singer, karima 2g, and senegalese percussionist and singer, moustapha mbengue. �for me, he (mbengue) was a mentor and taught me a lot spiritually but also mentally�, kolé explains, �and without his hard work i wouldn�t be here for sure. this track is dedicated to him, as he s a muslim bayefal.� a joyous, steadfast drum workout made in the carnival spirit, �bayefal� also serves as an ode to his love for both west african rhythms and more specifically, the gqom sound. * on the flip, �malumz� � backed up with two dark, brooding remixes by durban�s citizen boy and crew, formation boyz � is another track rooted in personal experience. �malumz is a tribute to my gqom oh! family�, kolé explains. �they call me malumz, which in zulu means �uncle�. the first time citizen boy called me �malumz�, it was overwhelming � i felt a change in my relationship with all the guys, because they started to treat me more as a family member, which meant a lot.� * the original mix, a stark, pulsing drum-track dotted with playful whistles and bleepy sampling again celebrates kolé�s fascination with the gqom sound, while first citizen boy and then formation boyz flip �malumz� with harsher, grittier tones and crunching, industrial textures.

exchange place is the dj collective that includes nicuri himself alongside joey anderson, dj qu and a producer by the name of art gallery. the name makes reference to a district in downtown jersey city, just across the river from manhattan, which is where the crew is primarily based. they released a 12-inch under the name exchange place with dj qu s strength music label back in 2010, and have dj d occasionally as a group around new york city. the new ep, immaculate inception, includes one track from each of the four contributors.

hazina francia aka petit singe returns to give a sign of what�s to come in the very near future. her transdimentional approach is always prone to punctuate the spiritually intense quality of her taste for melody with heavy barrages of drums organized into hard-hitting grooves. each of the two tracks manages to balance in her world of feral beauty, pummeling the dancefloor while also dragging into psychedelic stupor.

lehultsub is dedicated to dj-friendly flips, chops and spins, brought to you on a limited edition of hand-stamped white labels. the a-side introduces tony rainwater, who shows us his straight up approach to editing: find an obscure sample, speed it up, make it hit. the second track on this side, lets celebrate less hats loops the dance floor in a frenzy. tony will return for a full 12inch on lehult early 2017. the b-side, my love 4 u will neva die by lucky charms has been played by all of the lehult crew for a year already and has been requested over and over ever since. its rugged, curveball approach catches the crowd by surprise and makes for some unique dance floor moments.

days of being wild continues their collaboration with berlin based french producer franz matthews, releasing his first solo ep, the spacey, cosmic ostkreuz. half of the duo languages, whose 1st ep the label released at the end of last year, franz matthews explores a very different sound on his first solo effort, all space disco, retro synths and funky guitars out. title track ostkreuz has been road tested by the days of being wild crew on dance floors all around europe all of last year and has created euphoria and anticipation in equal measure. this is a cosmic hit from outer space, all constructed around well known ingredients that thanks to franz matthews musical and melodic talent rise here to epic heights. the b-side guns of rixdorf is another devastating peak time tune. while remaining in the same vein as ostkreuz, it feels more high energy with its irresistible funky guitars calling and responding over a driving bass. days of being wild always try to pair producers with remixers that will shed a new light on their work. its no exception with ostkreuz, who gets the reinvention treatment from no other than moscoman and rodion aka the claydermans. the cosmic vibe is still here hovering on top in the opening chords of the remix, but soon enough a sub, housier bass makes its way in the mix and wont let you go until the end. carried by shuffling claps and a bouncier beat, the groove here is totally re-invented, taking ostkreuz from peak time to the darker edges of after land.

white material crew s galcher lustwerk and alvin aronson return under the guise of studio ost with a 4-track ep of live jams on lustwerk music. while the pair s critically acclaimed 2016 debut scenes (2012-2015) leaned towards home listening, eventide / ascension shifts the focus back to the dancefloor with two chugging cinematic house tracks. eventide is an evolving nebula of fluttering pads and lush percussion, while ascension s hot-electric drums are complimented by sharp synth chords that unfurl into controlled chaos. a beatless version of eventide and a drums only version of ascension sweeten the deal.
